I still remember my first morning in Kyoto — 5am, the city asleep, and Fushimi Inari completely empty except for the sound of my own footsteps under a thousand vermilion gates. I’ve been chasing that feeling ever since.
Over eight years and more trips than I can count, I’ve learned that Kyoto doesn’t reveal itself to people in a hurry. The good light, the quiet corners, the moment a geiko crosses a lantern-lit lane in Gion — they all belong to whoever slows down enough to wait for them.
This is the trip I always wished someone had run for me. Small group, no rushing, and days shaped entirely around golden hours instead of checklists. We’ll shoot bamboo at dawn, wander Nara’s deer parks, and end in Osaka’s neon glow.
You don’t need to be a professional. You just need to want to see slowly. I’ll be beside you the whole week, helping you come home with frames that actually feel like the place.

your host
I’ve spent the last eight years chasing light through Japan — most of it in Kyoto’s backstreets before the crowds wake up. This trip is the one I always wished existed: small, unhurried, and built entirely around the golden hours. We move slowly, we shoot deliberately, and we leave with frames that actually feel like the place.
